AeroDex Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
AeroDex is an aircraft spotting logbook. You photograph a plane, the app works out what it is, and you keep a collection you can share with friends. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. Questions: apps@kratee.com.
What we collect
- Account. When you sign in with Apple or with email, we receive your email address (which may be Apple's private relay address) and a unique account ID.
- Your profile. The call sign (handle) you choose, and optionally a bio, favourite plane and favourite airline.
- Your spots. For each aircraft you log: a small thumbnail of the photo, the date and time it was taken, the location (from your photo's metadata or your device when you use the camera), the nearest airport, the identification result, and any notes you add. Your original full-size photos stay on your device.
- Crew. Friend requests, your friends list, challenges, and any blocks or reports you make.
- Push notifications. If you allow notifications, a device token so we can notify you of friend requests and challenges.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Camera, photos and location
The camera is used only when you take a photo of an aircraft. Photo library access lets you pick photos and read the date and location saved in them. Location is used to tag a spot and to suggest your home airport. You can turn any of these off in iOS Settings, and the app still works with manual entry.
AI photo analysis (optional)
AeroDex first tries to read the aircraft's registration on your device. If that isn't enough, and only if you have allowed it, the app sends a resized copy of the photo to our server, which passes it to AI vision services to identify the aircraft. The copy does not include your location or other photo metadata. These services are Cloudflare Workers AI and Google’s Gemini and Gemma models (through Google AI Studio). Their handling of the image is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. You are asked before the first photo is analysed this way, and you can switch it off at any time in Settings (“Cloud photo analysis”). With it off, identification uses on-device reading only.
What friends can see
Friends you have accepted can see your call sign, bio, favourites, points and rank, and (unless you turn it off in your Pilot Profile) thumbnails of your recent catches. They cannot see your locations or notes. People who are not your friends see nothing.
Reporting and blocking
You can report another pilot or block them from their profile or from a friend request. Blocking removes them from your crew and stops them contacting you. Reports are reviewed by us and include the reported pilot's call sign and bio at the time of the report.
Where your data is stored and who handles it
Your account, spots and thumbnails are stored on our own Supabase server. We use Apple for sign-in and push notifications, and Cloudflare and Google for the optional AI analysis described above. We do not sell your data.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app (account menu, “Delete account”). This permanently deletes your profile, spots, thumbnails, friendships, challenges and device tokens from our server. Deletion is immediate. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your data or for it to be deleted.
Children
AeroDex is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
